Fitzharris & Price Ltd announces a competition

The contest is aimed for students, young professionals, architects with previous experience and architectural studios, who can submit preliminary projects for the design of hotel resort located in: Zanzibar, Tanzania.

It is required from the participants to develop a conception for an architectural design , which meets the objectives and concept of the project, as well as the requirements for branding a hotel group/chain in the 5 and 5S segment (luxurious 5 stars group)

The competition is open in two stages. In the first stage, all participants can submit their projects covering the terms of the competition. Fitzharis & Price Ltd. will select at least 5 and no more than 10 projects to proceed in the second stage without announcing the ranking order. The participants in the second stage will be able to revise their projects and present them personally to Fitzharis & Price Ltd. and the jury.

In order To Participate:

Please complete the Application Form and Questionnaire providing the required preliminary information. All approved applicants will be emailed with detailed information including : Design Assignment, Contest Program, Concept Guide and other auxiliary contest materials.

The idea behind the “BOHEMIANS” project is to create an innovative, original and conceptual architectural design that is distinguished by a strong sense of aesthetics and unobtrusive luxury; special attitude to the detail and artistic taste. A modern yet classic solution in which the use of natural materials will be highly appreciated.

In the case of less than 15 project applications received in the first stage of the competition, the Contracting Authority reserves the right to terminate the competition.

The competition program is coordinated with the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria (CAB) and the Union of Architects in Bulgaria (UAB).

***All Bulgarian and foreign physical persons and / or legal persons or their associations with architectural design competences in the respective country of registration have the right to participate in the competition. Participants from Bulgaria are required to register for full design competency at the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria (leader / mentor). If the project is prepared by a team (including students), at least one of the team members must have a professional registration. In the absence of a team (leader / mentor), Fitzharis & Price may provide one to the team.

The assessment is done through a point system (maximum score of 60) with the main criteria being:
  • aesthetics and architectural concept of BOHEMIANS RESORT and the layout of the adjacent areas - from 1 to 10 points;
  • functionality of the solution and fulfillment of the requirements in the Assignment and Concept Guide - from 1 to 10 points;
  • construction and technological feasibility - from 1 to 10 points;
  • use of local building materials - from 1 to 10 points;
  • economic feasibility - from 1 to 10 points;
  • construction of the conceptual design using the method of building information models - from 1 to 10 points
